Medical Insurance

While studying in Canada it is mandatory to have medical insurance.

If You are coming for 6 months or less.

It is best to buy insurance in your country but if do not buy one, you can purchase it at school, upon arrival, before you start your classes.

If You are coming for 6 months or longer. 

  If you have a Student Authorization and will be in Vancouver longer than 6 months you can apply for Government insurance (called the British Columbia Medical Service Plan). You have to reside in British Columbia for three months before You can be eligible for BC Medical Services Plan. Apply for it as soon you arrive.  BC Medical Plan is currently  $36.00 per month.  For the first 3 months you will have to have private medical insurance.  You can purchase it in your country or here upon arrival for $60.00 per month.
